Microsoft's New Operating System Is Finally Unleashed.
Vista, the long awaited windows operating system has finally been unleashed after seven years in the making.
There are many new functions available with Vista, and we have mentioned only but a few below, so it’s worth visiting Microsoft to see a full list of it’s benefits.
One of the biggest changes is obvious – the flat windows are no more, replaced by a 3D display called Aero. The breakthrough design in the interface allows you to display the panes for each programme you have running in different ways, they can be stacked or staggered and displayed at different angles.
There are a number of other graphical effects that add to it’s niche: For example, the panes can be made “translucent” so you can see what is lurking beneath the programme you are working on.
Vista’s other main benefits are it’s easy to use search and organisation tools – Instant search helps users locate ANY document, photo, e-mail message, file or programme with ease. The Live Icons display a thumbnail of the contents of each file to help users locate what they are looking for. The Windows Flip3D gives allows users to quickly “flip through” all open windows in a 3D stacked view.
Vista is the safest and most reliable versions of Windows that Microsoft has ever released – Vista has layered security including strong default protections – Protected Mode in Internet Explorer 7. This helps prevent malicious code being installed. To help increase user confidence , the Internet Explorer 7 address bar will highlight in green when it detects a safe web site.
Another function that helps increase the users confidence is the new family safety settings – Vista provides parents with a greater level of control of their child’s computer use. Amongst other things, users can create reports that detail their children’s online activities and PC games can be restricted based on title, content or the game rating.
We now test all our sites so they are compatible with Microsoft Vista.
